Lately I’ve been doing loads more press shots for the band Scarlet Harlots. This sort of stuff is not usually my forte, but I’m giving it a bloody good go.

I’ve been working with the band Scarlet Harlots recently on some promotional shots. This is the first time I’ve had some real time to do some of my own stuff instead of concentrating on teaching for a very long time. More new stuff to come as hopefully when I get paid I’ll buy some film. The ol’ Hasselblad is gathering dust!

Kurt Tong’s series called “Farewell in Labrador” is about an isolated township on the Eastcoast of Canada. He perfectly expresses the sense of desperation that the 12000 inhabitants must be feeling since their fishing industry has come under threat.

Some of Wetzels portraits are absolutely stunning. He is able to create these astonishingly ethereal images with his beautiful understanding of light.

I really dislike flickr (one member states about the above photograph; “super amazing!!! very ghostbusters!”), any medium that promotes photography should be a good thing, but I can’t get beyond it’s arrogance. But, this work by Sofia Ajram is absolutely beautiful, some of the portraits are a little derivative but they contain a wonderful openness, full of texture and passion. If flickr was full of this sort of standard and not stacked with pictures of cats, my opinion would change. Here’s to hoping.

Now make plagiarising even easier with dripbook! Only joking, it seems like a really good resource to find inspiring image makers. A bit like ffffound but without the pretense.
