I was very pleased to be part of the Day Zine Project, here’s a little bit of information about it:

Day Zine is an art project and zine themed around the time of its making, a sort of creative newspaper or time capsule.

Each issue sees the collaboration of a handful of exciting creatives who come together to form a one day workshop. This eventually results in a limited run printed zine.

The work created is inspired by the characteristics of that 24 hours; so everything from the location, weather, news or conversations can effect the content. This makes each issue, as each day is, inherantly unique.

Day Zine is curated by Thomas Coombes & Tessa Edmondson. For further information on the project or if you’d like to be involved in the next Day, get in touch at info@dayzine.co.uk and follow @_DayZine for regular updates.

The first issue ‘Day One’ is available, order a copy here.

I awoke this morning to the most beautiful light – so I decided to go for a walk. It took me around 30 minutes to drive to the Hills surrounding Birmingham. On my walk I came across this bench with newly placed flowers, it filled me with melancholy but also with a weird happiness.

I came across some old negatives that I thought I’d lost when I moved to London, the above image depicts my younger brother being told off while we were out having a meal. This image instantly transports me to the time when I was in similar situation to Jamie!

Today I’ve been shooting for a project that I’m involved in called Day Zine, basically it’s a zine about the day of it’s creation – whether that be a feeling or a news headline, taking an intangible thought and making it a reality.

While trawling through images, memories and places that I haven’t thought about or looked at in years – I found this portrait. This is from a project I did about Men with Beards. It was a street lighting technique that I later applied to the Kids series, it reminded me that I need to go and have a little more fun with my projects. I love this portrait and his beard.
