Record numbers of children are growing up without a father’s presence, evidence from history documents the gradual decline of the child centered two-parent family and the effects of father absence and transformation in parenting. The loss of financial support from fathers to their children is viewed as a major influence in the numerous problems of today’s society including; teenage pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, welfare dependency and child poverty. This work focuses on exploring father-child relationships and the idiosyncrasies of the home in contemporary middle-Britain.
